The Lookies: Bio

The Lookies

The Rummager, seminal noise rock drummer with Velvet Monkeys (Thurston Moore), Half Japanese (Jad Fair), B.A.L.L., Gumball (Don Flemming) and Dinosaur jr. (J Mascis, Lou Barlow) is back with a new project and is ready to rock the nation. Joined by his compadres Randy (sugarhed, head upsetters) and Josh (The Virus, Kamikaze Zero) they are ready to rock your town.

A Short History:
While Rummy (drums) and Randy (guitar) were forging new ground in the indie rock scene Josh (bass) was still fulfilling his punk rock dream in The Virus. The three have converged to produce some powerful rock that is old school in many ways but still fresh. In the day and age of “new” rock, The Lookies have gone back to basics and provide a needed refresher course in rock and roll.
With equal parts Keith Moon, Iggy Pop, and Duff Mckagan The Lookies are creating a style of their own with a sound that is All Lookies, All the Time. It takes a band like the Lookies to cut through all the crap out there. They will never win points for a clever name, their flashy style, or forging a new musical direction (they play rock and roll). The Lookies still manage, through sometimes total abandon; to reinvigorate a scene filled with bands that so desperately wanna rock, but have no idea how to do it. With an EP (self titled on RedRum records) and a 7” (colored vinyl on Zodiac Killer records) under their belt, The Lookies are poised to release a full length record of new material. The Lookies are currently playing dates nationally in support of that new material. I’m glad no one tried to put The Lookies in a box as it would get messy. Their loud, rowdy shows defy easy description, unless you are just in the right mood for some hell-raising rock-n-roll.
